Goo.gl(links) assails Twitter redirecting to malicious pages, targeting mobile.twitter.com

Twitter facing new malicious attacks....
Twitter might be under a new type of attack now! According to various internet reports, a nasty worm is spreading rapidly on the microblogging site and using Google's goo.gl URL shortening service to send unwary users to malicious pages.

As per Mr. Mashable, large number of messages containing only the link "goo.gl/R7f68" has appeared on Twitter, redirecting the users to various malware-laden sites.

Particularly the worm appears to be targeting users of Twitter's mobile website, mobile.twitter.com, and forcing their account to post a link that spreads the infection when clicked.

In most cases, the message claims that the striken Twitter user has "just found the easiest way to track who follows and unfollows you". In some other cases, the link is posted without a comment.

The Next Web found the origins of the link in the messages, which sends users to a French site (http://artcan-developpement.fr) that has reportedly been hacked to forward users to sites containing various malware scripts.

"Throw away the company keep your number"- Mobile Number Portability starts today. How to use MNP service?

Procedure/Steps to follow of using Mobile Number Portability(MNP).........
The nation-wide mobile number portability (MNP) service begins from Haryana on Thursday, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said. A notification explaining the procedures about porting their numbers has been issued by TRAI.

  1. Send an SMS from your phone to 1900.
  2. Your present company will reply with a unique porting code.
  3. Use that code while filling out a detailed form for the company you want to shift to.
  4. Within 48 hours, that company will take over all your cell services.
  5. The fee/amount charge may cost you about Rs. 19.
  6. Your cell number will be switched off for only one hour.
  7. All bills after that are paid to your new company.
Note: You'll be stuck with them for at least 50 days before you can shift again, so choose with care.
While you can shift from a GSM service to CDMA or vice versa, you cannot shift from one state to another.
"The circles don't change. If you are in Karnataka, you are a Karnataka subscriber. If you shift from one state to another, roaming kicks in, just like it does right now," said Rajan Mathews.
However, if you stay in Haryana, you can switch companies starting on November 25. Everyone else will have to wait till early next year (2011). The industry says it can cope with the huge data transfers, without compromising national security.
"If in case, the Government wants to track or monitor someone, there will be robust methods to do that. Anyone planning to misuse the system because of MNP is going to be sorely disappointed," added Mathews.

Currently it works only on Google homepage and results page not in other places such as browser search boxes, the Google toolbar and the Chrome Omnibox. As people have learned about Google Instant, many seem to be searching, more on the homepage in order to use the feature.Searchers have become more interactive and there has been about 7 percent rise in search queries.
Google also extended Instant facility to Google Books, Videos, Blogs and Updates, and launched keyboard shortcuts to help users navigate through search results.

In addition to all the above, Google has started testing a new feature that would display pop-up previews of the websites listed in search results. This is how it works. ATTENTION for ORKUT Users, PLEASE DON'T LOG ON TO YOUR ORKUT ACCOUNT

Attention! All the Orkut Users Read This carefully....
Bom Sabado!, which mean 'Good Saturday' in Portuguese, striked the orkut accounts which keeps on sending the scrap called 'Bom Sabado!' to the orkut users. Those scraps will pretend us as they were came from the friend list of ours and it comes just like any other normal and regular Orkut scraps. It is not clear yet what actually is happening around.
'We checked our orkut accounts and found the same' says some users through different internet sources. The list of Bom Sabado! scraps are flooding into our scrapbox. Here is an image given below to just give an idea of it.
The worm seems to be posting scraps with the text "Bom Sabado" and also adding affected users to new Orkut groups. Such XSS attacks have targeted Orkut in the past too.
Experts have advised users to avoid logging on to Orkut till Orkut engineers fix the hole and also not to click on any suspicious links. Orkut had just last month announced new updates to the website.
Earlier this week, the popular microblogging website Twitter was also at the receiving end of an XSS exploit. The attack, which emerged and was shut down within hours Tuesday morning, involved a XSS flaw that allowed users to run JavaScript programs on other computers.

Unless we get the proper confirmation from the orkut team, we are unable to say what actually is this bug or error and what it will result in? But it does seems like a lot of members are getting this message in their scraps.

Twitter users can now on use photos and videos in their twitter accounts. Turning its website into a multimedia showcase by adding a new pane that will make it easier for its 160 million users to check out photos and video.
“We are still figuring out all the new possibilities,” Twitter co-founder Biz Stone said in an interview.
In the process, Twitter has evolved from a geeky hangout when it started four years ago to a worldwide phenomenon today.
People are mainly opening accounts now so they can follow the tweets from the friends, family, celebrities, media outlets and lawmakers that interest them. These spectators, or “lurkers,” tend to only publish their own thoughts or observations periodically.
