Ronjan Sodhi, the Indian ace trap shooter to be honoured with RG Khel Ratna Award

  • Ronjan Sodhi, the Indian trap shooter, who successfully defended a World Cup title is recommended for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. Sodhi, born in Punjab, is also a recipient of Arjuna Award. So far he won two silver medals in Commonwealth Games and a gold at Asian games, 2010.

    Sodhi, currently ranked No.1 in ISSF World rankings, is best at his accuracy and consistancy which made him win the 2010 Lonato ISSF World Cup and 2011 ISSSF World Cup at Maribor. He is the only and first Indian Shooter to successfully defend a World Cup title.

    On the other hand, Indian Vice-captain and the fostering talent of Indian Cricket Virat Kohli has been recommended for the Arjuna Award. The young cricketer has been playing a vital role in the team and is a potential match-winner. Recently he won ICC ODI player of the year 2012.

    The other rising young shuttler of India, Pusarala Venkata Sindhu, who very recently won the bronze medal at a Badminton World Championships is also been recommended for the Arjuna Award.
