Ms. Deepak Sandhu became first woman Cheif Information Commissioner of India

  • The former Indian Information Service officer, Ms. Deepak Sandhu became the First ever woman Cheif Information Commissioner of the nation. Ms. Sandhu, an officer of 1971 batch, has been an information commissioner from 4 years. She took the oath of office by president Pranab Mukherjee here at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

    The 64 year old lady said she will take forward the journey of the RTI act by engaging more and more key stakeholders. But as her tenure will be only for around 3 months she has the challenge of reducing the number of pending cases, which are now at 30000 cases.

    Her predecessor Mr. Satyananda Mishra had headed the bench that brought the political parties under RTI ambit.

    • Principal Director General (Media and Communications) In PIB
    • Director General of DD News
    • Director General AIR
    • Represented the country at various International Film Festivals
    • International Conference on Terrorism and Electronic Media, Russia.
