The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukharjee, today appointed Shri Shashi Kant Sharma, IAS, as the Comptroller & Auditor General of India (CAG), in terms of Article 148 (1) of the Constitution of India.
Shashi Sharma is presently holding the post of Defence Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. He will take over the charge of the office of the Comptroller & Auditor General of India from 23rd May, 2013.
Sharma is a 1976 batch IAS and his cadre is Bihar state. He is basically from Uttar Pradesh. He has held a lot of positions some of them are as secretary in various Ministries like Finance, Communication and Information Technology, Personal & Public Grevances, and Defence. He is a Post Graduate in Political Science.
