  • The Indian government is thinking to make a law to curb the fixing menace which has been for a while topping the news headlines. The Law Minister Kapil Sibal proposed a new law to curb fixing menace in sport in the wake of IPL spot-fixing scandal, soon after this the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has backed the need of a tougher legislation to control fixing.

Kapil Sibal met Sports Minister Jitendra Singh and proposed to plug the loopholes that help the accused to escape punishment.

Meanwhile the ex-Minister for sports, Mr. Ajay Maken, tweeted in twitter that, BCCI should be brought under the ambit of Right To Information Act, 2005 so that it can be held responsible to the public. Because there has been some amount of public money involved in its working.

According to Section 2(h) of the RTI Act, even a non-governmental organisation comes within the ambit of the transparency law if it is substantially financed, “directly or indirectly” by funds provided by the appropriate government.
