Aryabhatta award conferred on V K Saraswat by Astronatical Society of India

  • The Astronatical Society of India today awarded its esteemed Aryabhatta Award to the DRDO Chief V K Saraswat for his lifetime contributions to missiles and aerospace technologies. The award was presented by Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office V Narayansamy. 

    According to a press release of DRDO, "The award was conferred on him for his lifetime contributions to missiles and aerospace technologies and also in recognition of his pioneering contributions towards the growth of astronautics in the country."

    Saraswat was famous for his indigenisation thoughts, which makes him to immensely contributed to the indigenous design and development of wide range of strategic and tactical missiles, as well as a unique twin layer ballistic missile defence system in the country.

    Saraswat successfully lead the organisation in its work on development of several weapon systems, platforms and military equipment, and initiation of development of new futuristic technologies and systems.

    Another DRDO outstanding Scientist, G Satheesh Reddy of Research Centre Imarat (RCI) received the prestigious ASI Rocketry and related Technologies Award (ASI Rocketry Award) on the occasion. Satheesh is working with RCI since its inception. He is an expert in avionics and missile systems.
