Dr N Eswara Prasad, Sc ‘G’ and Regional Director for RCMA (Materials), Hyderabad, of CEMILAC has
been elected as the Metallurgist of the Year 2010 by the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) and Ministry of Steel for his outstanding contributions towards the research, development, and production support through airworthiness certification of several nonferrous aeronautical metals and materials for Defence Applications in India. This prestigious recognition by IIM was bestowed on Dr Prasad by Shri Virbhadra Singh, Minister for Steel, Government of India, on 14 November 2010 at the National Metallurgist Day Celebrations of IIM, conducted at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.
Dr Prasad was also elected as a Fellow of The Institution of Engineers (India) for his contributions in the field of ‘Mechanical behaviour of metal- and ceramic-based advanced composites and also for the ‘Development of several aero grade aluminium alloys and high temperature materials based on MoSi2, C-Cf and C-Cf-SiC’, in 2009.
