Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy chairman of the Planning Commission said a special portal will be launched soon where people can drop in their suggestions. "We plan to make the process more inclusive. We invite people to comment and post their approaches on the portal. The suggestions will be discussed while finalizing the 12th plan," he said.
Montek while speaking at a lecture here on Sunday on 'Challenges in the 12th Plan'.
"Though we have shown we are the second fastest-growing country, it has been difficult to achieve inclusion. It is a multi-dimensional target and poverty reduction is an important part of the inclusion process. The plan should also clearly define the role of state governments and the Centre," he said.
Further, increasing urbanization is also a major challenge. By 2040, the country's urban population will increase from 28% to 40%. "Our urban governance is still in the form of a colonial structure, but we have to make efforts to address the issue of local governance as well," he said.
Aside from agriculture and industries, the panel will address issues like governance, global development, development of science and technology and also the role of markets. Montek said inclusion is a complex issue, Elucidating the challenges of the 12th plan.
