Guidelines on how to fill GATE 2011 online application...

To Apply online for GATE-2011, User Registration is Compulsory. Carefully Follow the following steps to complete the registration process..
STEPS To Follow:

• Go to this website http://gate.iitm.ac.in/gate2011/ and then click on 'Apply Online'.
• Then Click on the 'Register' link if you are a new user, else if you are an existing user you click on 'Login Here' and enter your login details(Application number and password).
• Be Careful that once you Click on register or login links you will not be allowed to go back, unless, you click on Home at the right Hand Side.
• After Clicking you will get a 'Candidate Registration Form'.
• Enter Your Name and Date of Birth as on 10th Class Certificate.
• Choose a password and enter it twice.
• Give your E-mail address(VALID) which can be able to use as for communication purposes.
• Now you need to select a security question and give an answer to it. you must remember the answer of the security question because the question will be asked when you forget your password.
• Enter the Captcha text as shown in the image. It is case sensitive.
• Click submit and then it will again prompt your confirmation of your entries.
• After confirming you will be asked to login. Click on login button.
• Once you click on  the login you will get a system generated candidate ID and asks you to enter the the password and also give in captcha code then submit or proceed.
• Now you will see a 'Candidate Preliminary Details' page.
• Here first Choose your GATE PAPER, preferred exam centers(can choose upto 2), caste category, gender and mention if any physical disabilities.
• Then confirm your details by submitting.
• Now you can see a 'Identification Details' Page where you must fill the following,

1. Name of Parent
2. Nationality
3. State of Permanent Residence
4. Address for Correspondence
5. Phone Number(Remember your 10 digit Phone Number should start with '0')
6. Qualifying Degree
7. Year of Degree
8. Discipline
9. Application Fee is fixed as Rs.800(for OC/BC) or Rs.400(for SC/ST)

• This is crucial stage to check your details once again as you need to make a payment now. Now you are allowed to check your details then you can confirm and also re-confirmation will be asked after confirming your details.(Changes are not allowed after this stage)
• A new page will be loaded then Note down your Application Number below your name field.
• You can Pay the Application Fees in two ways either through a Payment Gateway or Bank Challan.
• Select your mode of payment and continue by clicking on  proceed.
• If Payment Gateway is selected, you can see three options(Bill Dest Gateway, HDFC and ICICI payment gateways)
• Where through Bill Dest Gateway you can use your Credit/Debit Card and Internet Banking for fee payment.
• Challan Payment also be made through the payment of cash at SBI or INDIAN Bank Braches.
• At the end of this process a PDF File will be generated with pages as given below,

1. Page-1: Instructions
2. Page-2: Application Form Institute's Copy
3. Page-3: Application Form Candidate's Copy
4. Page-4: Address Slip
5. Page-5: Bank Challan( for Challan Payment Only)

• Print the entire PDF file.
• Paste your recent Passport Photo(3cmx4cm) in the designated place of Page-2.
• Sign at the filled Application Form with all enclosures and send by SPEED POST(preferably) or REGISTERED POST to THE CHAIRMAN, GATE of the Zone, where the Candidate Prefers(Corresponding to 1st choice of examination city) to appear for the Examination, so as to reach ON or BEFORE TUESDAY NOVEMBER 2, 2010 or Handover Personally to Respective Zonal Gate Office.
