This is how we are ready for Common Wealth Games

Can India ever get another chance to host such a major world class event?

It is absolutely concerned fact that India may ever never gets a chance to host a world class event after this damn arrangements made by our organizers to host the CWG.
Yet another stain over the arrangements. Here in Delhi on 22nd September 2010, with 12 days to go for the Commonwealth Games, a gleaming new steel-and-concrete suspension pedestrian overbridge came crashing down on Tuesday at the main event venue Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium. The disaster left at least 27 workers injured and heightened concerns about the safety of structures being readied in a mad rush for the October 3 opening. Five of them seriously, site engineer was one among those five.
Authorities refused to pin blame on any agency and Delhi government's Public Works Department, which has been entrusted with several CWG projects, said it had tendered two foot overbridges, including the one destroyed, to a Chandigarh-based company P&R Infraprojects Ltd for Rs 10.34 crore. Work on both the arch-shaped foot overbridges started in March and was scheduled to end this month.
The PWD project manager, Sarvagya Srivastava at the disaster site, didn't say who was responsible for the bridge collapse. He merely said that two of the clamps holding up the causeway snapped and as the load increased progressively on the other cables, all of these snapped and the edifice came crashing down, when reporters asked for an explanation.

Alas! let the bridges, towers and buildings may hold on till the end of the CWG.

Slowly India is getting itself ready for Common Wealth Games 2010

India on its road to host the Common Wealth Games 2010 in Delhi, we are still in the ongoing rant on how ill-prepared we are. But as like a small relief that the works are completing a little bit quicker now and some of the stadiums are ready to host the events. The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Thyagaraj Stadium, and Siri Fort Sports Complex are ready for the event.
The India's top news channel NDTV took an initiative program called "Be the Solution" and started to work at the venues. All that we need to do now is to make India proud by supporting our sportsmen.
